Hazaribag's own MLA Pradip Prasad is demanding an official investigation by district authorities regarding claims that private schools are pressuring parents to buy educational materials and uniforms exclusively from designated shops. This, he argues, creates an unnecessary financial hardship for families and limits their freedom of choice.
Hazaribag: Alleging that the parents of private school students were being forced to buy books, uniforms and shoes from a select few schools, Hazaribag MLA Pradip Prasad on Thursday urged the district administration to initiate a probe into the alleged nexus between private schools and shopkeepers.Prasad met deputy commissioner Hemant Sati and discussed matters on civic amenities, public welfare and irregularities in private schools and nursing homes among others.“Parents of students studying in several private schools are being forced to purchase books, uniforms and shoes from selected shops and charged re-admission fees every year,” Prasad said. Calling it an undue financial burden, he demanded an impartial inquiry into the alleged nexus between schools and shopkeepers.“Parents must be free to buy school materials from shops of their choice, depending on convenience and affordability,” he said.Prasad urged the DC to take steps that would remove traffic congestion in the city and demanded that dried trees along roadsides be removed to prevent accidents and loss of lives during storms and rain.On healthcare, Prasad stressed the need to strengthen services at govt hospitals. “Availability of essential medicines and timely treatment should be ensured for all patients,” he said. Sati assured Prasad that all issues raised would be examined seriously. “Concerned departments will be directed to take necessary action on priority,” he said.
